Two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Allan Grice says that the Toll Holden Racing Team’s commemorate livery is a fitting tribute to the team’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
Grice, alongside Englishman Win Percy, took the #16 Holden Racing Team Commodore VL to victory in the 1990 Tooheys 1000 – HRT’s first official race on The Mountain.
The Toll Holden Racing Team, the most winningest team in V8 Supercars racing, will compete at Bathurst next week in special retro colour schemes on both the #2 and #22 entries, paying tribute to the 1990 race.
Grice says the implementation of the retro livery is “commendable.”
“I think it’s a nice touch. It sounds like they’ve gone to a lot of trouble,” he told Speedcafe.com.au.
“Something like this hasn’t been done before and I think it is commendable.”
Grice drove for the Holden Racing Team at Bathurst on three occasions, finishing first (1990), second (1991) and fifth (1992).
